Annual
NAFSR meeting in Seattle, Aug 23 & 24.
We
are meeting at the
we are
elated that U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell will be with us the morning
and for lunch on August 23rd.
The House Interior and Related Agencies Subcommittee has marked up the 2011 budget bill. Overall, the FS did pretty well in a period of tight budgets. It is interesting that the increase in FS non-fire programs was greater than the total increase for all Interior Agencies. A Summary of action and Chairman Moran's opening statement. It is still not clear whether the Congress will pass the appropriations bills before the election.

SUBJECT:
Fire Management is one of the topics of most interest to our members.
This very important speech, statement by Chief Tidwell, to USFS key, long

discussed as we enter the 2010 wildfire season. At this time
we are working to schedule a pre-season meeting with USFS Deputy Chief Hubbard
and his leaders to continue the fire management dialogue underway based on our
members interests.
Best Regards!! Darrel
